The Boyd Professorship is LSU's most prestigious professorship. It was established in 1953 and named for the brothers David French Boyd and Thomas Duckett Boyd, who each served as LSU president. The Boyd Professorship is conferred on the recipient for life.

- Pasquale Porcelli (awarded in 1965)
- Jimmie Lawson (awarded in 1999)
- James Oxley (awarded in 2012)
