Brief Introduction to Probability
Contact
The probability group has broad research activities in progress. These include research in stochastic analysis with applications (Kuo, Sengupta, Sundar), various mathematical problems arising from physics (Kuo, Sengupta, Sundar), and applied modelling of probabilistic games (Cochran). Stochastic analysis emphasizes the study of probability measures and distribution theory on infinite dimensional spaces. Problems in mathematical physics range from those motivated by gauge theories in particle physics to those arising from the Navier-Stokes equations in fluid dynamics.
The group has had individual and joint federal and state research grants and maintains an active seminar, with participation by both faculty and students. Members of the group have organized numerous conferences at LSU and elsewhere, and encourage graduate students to participate in such forums. The group has had eight PhD graduates during the past ten years.
