Course Information

Course:
MATH 2090 Elementary Differential Equations and Linear Algebra, Section 2
Class Time:
M-Th 9:50–12:00
Class Location:
220 Tureaud Hall
Book:
Differential Equations and Linear Albegra (Third Edition) by Goode and Annin (required)
Attendance:
Attendance is mandatory. Only documented university-approved absences, as listed in LSU PS-22, will be accepted.

Grading

The grade will be determined by the number of points accumulated through a number of unannounced quizzes, three midterm tests, and the final exam. The quizzes will count for 10% of the course grade, each of the midterms will count for 20%, and the final exam will count for 30%. The usual 90%, 80%, 70%, 60% grading scale will be used to determine the letter grade for the course. Partial credit will be given, but only for the parts of the solution that lead to the correct answer. All work must be shown in writing; unsubstantiated answers will receive no credit. All scores will be posted on Moodle as soon as they become available.

Homework:
Homework will be assigned after each section of the material, and will be posted on this page. It will not be collected, but will be assessed through quizzes and tests: all quiz problems will be homework problems, and at least half of problems on midterms and the final will be homework problems.
Tests:
There will be three midterm tests, each of which will count for 20% of the final grade. I expect the tests to be given on June 25, July 8, and July 22, but small changes are possible. Each of the tests will be given during the first hour of the class.
Final Exam:
Final Exam will be given on Thursday, August 1, from 1:30pm to 3:30pm, in 220 Tureaud Hall. The exam will be comprehensive, and will count for 30% of the final grade.
