Welcome to the Department of Mathematics at Louisiana State University. We hope this website provides the information you are seeking, and also conveys the excitement of learning and discovering mathematics at LSU.
Our annual Porcelli Lectures, our colloquia, our seminars and our Vertically Integrated Research courses engage teams of undergraduates, graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and professors in cutting edge research.
Whether you are someone taking one of our courses as a requirement for your non-math major, or you are a math major supported by a President's Future Leaders in Research scholarship, you will find our instructors friendly, available, and helpful.
We have 150 math majors, 90 graduate students, ten postdoctoral researchers, and 53 professorial faculty, working in nearly every field of mathematics.
Our faculty and graduate and undergraduate students are supported by many state, federal and private foundation grants, e.g. by the NSF, the NIH, Army, Air Force, Office of Naval Research and the Simons Foundation.
I wish you happy browsing. Questions and comments are welcome via "contact us" in the "About" link at the top of most of our site pages. Make sure to also check our news on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, and our popular video offerings.
