Some travel support will be available for participants of the workshop as indicated below. We encourage graduate students, recent PhD's, women and minorities to apply. Please select the appropriate category on the registration form. The deadline for applying for support has passed EOC funding: Participants affiliated with an Indian institution are eligible for support provided by the EOC. This will cover train fare within India and accommodation in the Goa University guest house. NSF funding: Participants affiliated with a US institution will be eligible for support provided by the NSF. This will be partial support which may be used towards travel or local accommodation. The exact amount will depend of the number of applicants. Air travel: If the money is used towards travel, the NSF reimbursement rules will apply: "Any air transportation to, from, between, or within a country other than the U.S. of persons or property, the expense of which will be assisted by NSF funding, must be performed by or under a code-sharing arrangement with a U.S.-flag air carrier if service provided by such a carrier is available. Tickets (or documentation for electronic tickets) must identify the U.S. flag air carrier's designator code and flight number." Note that code-shared flights must bear the designation of the US-based carrier. This means that your ticket must show the flight code of a US-based carrier, independent of which company actually operates the airplane. Usually this means that you must purchase the ticket from the US-based carrier. Additional details on allowable air travel is here (pdf). Others: There is some (but very limited) funding for participants who do not fall into the above categories. Please specify your country of citizenship and residence on the registration form if you apply for this. Funding, if available, will be partial. |
