The conference will be on the UVA Campus. The main talks will be in
108 Clark Hall and the short talks in 104 and 115 Maury Hall (marked on this map).
Travel:
The most convenient airport is
Charlottesville
Albemarle Airport (CHO). Charlottesville is roughly a 1 hour drive
from Richmond airport, and a 2.5-3 hour drive from Dulles and Reagan
airports.
Charlottesville is also served by Amtrak,
and for those traveling from the northeastern US, this is often
the most convenient way of getting here.
Lodging:
We recommend using the
Cavalier
Inn. If you tell them you're attending this conference by name,
you should be able to get a rate of $105 per night (including tax). We have a block
of rooms which are reserved until April 23rd, at which point they
will be released. The walking route between the Cavalier and Clark
Hall is marked on the marked on
conference map.
Since the conference will end by 12:30 on the
27th, participants are encouraged to economize on hotels by
departing that evening, when it is compatible with their travel plans.
Other hotels
convenient to the conference (roughly ordered by increasing
distance) are:
Food:
We'll provide coffee and snacks during the conference. Some
convenient places for lunch are marked on
conference
map and a more extensive discussion of the food options is in
the restaurant list.
Reimbursement:
Attendees should make their own travel arrangements, though feel free
to ask if you have questions. Please save all original receipts,
tickets and boarding passes for reimbursement.
Conference dinner:
The conference dinner will be on the
evening of Thursday, May 26th after the talks. The cost is $50 for
each person (including guests), with a reduction to $30 for
participating graduate students. The cost includes dinner, tip, and
transportation from the Cavalier Inn or other prearranged locations,
to the Boar's Head Inn, where the dinner will be held. There will be
chicken, seafood, and vegetarian options. All costs must be paid by
check or cash at the conference. If you are interested in attending
or have any questions (full menus are available for each entree),
contact Leonard Scott (
LLS2L@virginia.edu). Because of space
considerations, please do so as soon as possible.
